Just a couple of months ago Matt Cutts said he would be surprised to see an update to Google Toolbar PageRank later this year. Although it said that, here we are in December and we just updated Google PageRank values its toolbar this morning.
It is always a big problem in the SEO community with Google launch this type of update because PageRank is the most clearly visible metrics available to determine the value based on the number of quality links pointing to it website. This update December 2013 is particularly important since no one saw coming.
The latest update of the toolbar PageRank was in February and the support for it has been dropped in many browsers. This led many in the SEO industry to speculate that Google was phasing out out . Today's update indicates that the toolbar PageRank is still alive, at least for now.
Since PageRank is just one of many factors taken into account by the Google search algorithm is important not to obsess about it too much. However, Google continues to update it shows that he still has value in measuring the quantity and quality of links pointing to your site.
